St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday that honours St. Patrick and celebrates all things Irish. Every year on March 17th, kids dress up in green so they are “pinch proof” and try to catch the elusive St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun.
The St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun is an Irish fairy! Usually fairies are delicate and pretty, but this one sure isn’t! He stands about 2 feet tall, has pointy ears, dressed in all green and carries around a big stick that he uses to scare people who are trying to steal his pot of gold!
It is said that the St Patrick’s Day leprechaun is always on the search for more gold which is to be waiting at the end of a rainbow! We have been trying for many years to catch this little bugger whom leaves a horrible mess in our house as he searches for his next treasure.
Here are our last two years leprechaun traps, which sadly did not trap that little bugger!
This year my boys have taken a new approach and are trying to lure him in with a “pot of gold”.
This year remember to put on your green to avoid a pinch from that little bugger and may the Luck of the Irish be with you in your endeavour to catch the St. Paddy’s Day Leprechaun!
