This year Bard on the Beach is celebrating their 25th anniversary, and a few lucky YVR Bloggers were given the opportunity to spend an evening under the tents in Vanier Park!
We were treated to a private meet and greet with Christopher Gaze, Artistic Director and Founder of the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival; after which we enjoyed an evening of laughter and enchantment watching A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Meet and Greet with Christopher Gaze
The talented actors and colourful cast of characters – whose costumes combine Elizebethan and modern styles seamlessly – make Bard’s adaptation of Dream something to behold. The show is performed on the MainStage. Housed inside a covered tent with an opening at the back of the stage, this set allows for a stunning view of the waterfront throughout the performance.
The picture does the view no justice. There are no words to describe the beauty of watching the sun set while being entertained by this fun theatrical production.
I can’t wait to head back to Bard to check out more of what they have to offer!
This year they are also showing performances of The Tempest, Equivocation and Cymbeline. There are also several special events that have been planned in celebration of Bard’s 25th anniversary. If ever there was a perfect time to visit, that time is now!
