Canned Critters for Christmas

What on Earth are Canned Critters?

No need to worry that this is some bizarre new food trend! Canned Critters are uniquely packaged stuffed animal toys made by Northern Gifts Inc., and one of my top picks for gifting this holiday season.

They’re available in a multitude of animal species, but my personal favourites are those native to Canada (of course). 6 inch tall bears, eagles, orcas, beavers, and more, all crammed neatly into little cans. A few of the animals are also available in a mini version, 4 inches tall, that will make for great stocking stuffers!

Truth be told, I’d blacklisted stuffed animals as a gift idea entirely until I came across these little guys. I just find the thought of giving (or opening) a stuffie in a can surprisingly amusing. It’s so unexpected! This alone was enough to convince me that every child on my list needs a Canned Critters toy, but that’s not all there is to love about them.

Each can comes with a colourfully illustrated label that depicts the animal inside. When you turn the can to look at the back of it, you’ll also discover some interesting facts about the animal.

The best part, I think, is that you can even personalize your gift by adding a custom message and/or photograph that will be sealed inside the can! Who’s going to expect that when they open it up?!
