Event Details

This group meets at the library on the 3rd Thursday of each month and is organized by Robert Conrad who is taking an educational approach to the fascinating hobby of amateur astronomy.
Robert has more than 15 years experience in learning and development and is excited to pass on his passion for not only astronomy, but for providing people with strategies to help them learn. He’s  been preparing for months and has put together some materials that will help to learn the constellations as well as many other topics. These will include topics such as free Apps and software that can help you learn the night sky, how to starhop to find many of the Messier Deep Sky objects, different types of telescopes and the advantages and disadvantages of each. There will also be ample opportunity for members to research and teach others (an effective way to learn), as well as hands on practice using different types of telescopes. Some of this hands on practice will take place following the monthly meetings, either on the same evening, or on the weekends.
