Since I was a child my family has always made homemade Christmas Truffles to give as gifts to our family and friends over the holiday season. This is a tradition that has lived to now be passed down to my 3 children.
Last weekend we got together with my family and made a few hundred of this yummy little treats! This is how my family comes together and starts the holiday season each year. This is one of my fondest memories as a child, spending time with my mother and sisters and just letting the hustle and bustle of the season behind us.
These are a perfect gift to give to your family, friends, mailman, teachers, doctor, co-workers, or even a nice hostess gift if you have a party you may be attending over the season.
- 3 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 1 tbsp of vanilla
- a variety of sprinkles (for covering)
- icing sugar (for covering)
- coconut (for covering)
- cocoa (for covering)
Put 3 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 can of condensed milk and 1 tsp of vanilla into a glass/microwave safe bowl
Mix until chocolate chips are covered
Place in the microwave for 1 minute
Remove from microwave and stir mixture until all the chocolate chips are melted (reheat 30 seconds if needed)
Place in freezer for 2 – 4 hours to let harden
Remove from freezer and let get to room temperature (This makes it a lot easier on your hand.)
While you wait for your mixture to warm up you can prepare the sprinkles in different bowls
Once mixture is ready you can scoop out a piece of chocolate to your desired size, roll into a ball in your hands and cover in your desired sprinkle covering
Place in a mini baking cup and you are done
We either pack these up in little bags or tins from the dollar store, wrap with a ribbon and then you have a nice holiday sweet treat to give.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
