Whether you’ll be celebrating this Valentine’s Day alone or with someone else, I highly recommend adding a relaxing bath to the itinerary. As mentioned in a recent post, part of my resolution to make more time for myself this year includes making the time to take more baths; and if you haven’t enjoyed one in a while – let me tell you, you are missing out!
For the Love of Baths knows a thing or two about how to make these soaks even more relaxing and indulgent, and I recently had the pleasure of trying out a few of the handcrafted items from their product line.
Set the mood
Choose a Wood Wick Soy Wax Inspirational Candle, Lotion Candle, or a combination of the two. Turn off the bright lights and take in a deep breath to enjoy the aroma emanating from the softly flickering candles.
Made from pure soybean wax and botanical oils, the Inspirational Candles offer a touch of sentiment with quotes such as “When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew” and “Love Hugs Kisses”. If you like the idea but can’t find the right expression, you can even get one that has a blackboard surface and piece of chalk included so that you can express your feelings in your own words. With a wide wooden wick, these candles throw more light than those with a traditional wick.
Fill the tub
Set the water to the perfect temperature, pop in the plug and drop in a Bubble Bath Block. Watch the block create a cover of soft bubbles as it fizzes and dissolves into the hot water. Note the soft, smooth feeling of warmth that envelops you as you sink into the fragrant water.
After your soak
No need to end the fun here! After blowing out your Lotion Candle, you can use the warm lotion to re-hydrate. Use a Lotion Stick or a fun, flirty, lip-shaped Massage Bar for a full body moisturizing.
I love that For the Love of Baths products are locally-handmade in Vancouver; and their skin care philosophy lines up well with mine in that they believe products should be made as naturally as possible with no phthalates, parabens, gluten or SLS.
The Lotion Candle and Lotion Stick were more oil-based than lotions I’ve used in the past, but they soaked into my skin nicely, and left it silky-smooth with a soft shine.
While I enjoyed using all of the products mentioned in this post, the Lips Massage Bar stood out as my favourite. It is so much fun! The fact that it comes shaped like lips makes it a little cheeky, and being the size of my hand it is much bigger than I had expected. I love the way the bar slides gently across skin as it is warmed by body heat. This body butter is perfect for massaging, as your hands also slide through it nicely without sticking. The soft, indulgent chocolate aroma is a nice touch too.
