Last summer Woodland Owl Trinkets expanded their line of locally handcrafted jewellery to include earrings, and I was one of the few fortunate enough to test them before they were launched!
I was chosen as a tester for this product because I have sensitive ears, and I like to wear earrings that I can leave in for extended periods of time (indefinitely). Typically when I wear a pair of earrings my lobes become itchy within an hour, and sometimes even within minutes. After that they usually become infected, even if I’ve stopped wearing the earrings. I react to most metals, and the earrings that I leave in my ears day and night are actually made of bone.
I’m not going to lie… I didn’t expect to be chosen as a tester after divulging that my ears react to basically anything that touches them.
When I found out that I’d been selected, I was a bit nervous to give metal another chance. But beneath that, I was also excited at the possibility of owning more than one pair of earrings that I could actually wear! The little nests are so pretty, and so different from anything else I’ve seen!
I tried to keep my expectations low for fear of disappointment.
Nest earrings in bronze.
Based on the photos I’d seen online I thought they might be a bit bulkier than the earrings that I would typically wear. When I put them on they looked much daintier than I’d expected, and I quickly realized that these earrings would be very versatile for daytime or evening wear.
It pains me to share this picture because I always feel a little weird taking selfies (without make up too – eek), but here’s me rockin’ my new nests right after taking them out of the box.
The day that they arrived I was able to wear them all evening and overnight, and reported back to Woodland Owl Trinkets in the morning:
I ended up keeping them in for another day and then decided I’d rather not push my luck and took them out. Being someone with extremely sensitive ears, I am really excited that I can wear these earrings out all day, or for an entire evening without them bothering me!
If you have sensitive ears I would suggest taking them out before bed. But if you don’t… they are surprisingly comfortable to sleep in, so keep them in forever and ever if you’d like!

The nest earrings are made in silver, rose or bronze tone with surgical steel backings and posts, and there are a many different coloured bead choices for the eggs.
Woodland Owl Trinkets also offers a wide variety of necklaces and bracelets. If you’re looking for a set that will match with these pretty little earrings, you can have that too! To browse their online store, enter here.
You can also find Woodland Owl Trinkets on Facebook and Instagram, where they are known to host contests. It is in fact their current giveaway that inspired me to write this review. Until May 19th you can enter for the chance to win your very own pair of nest earrings!
Update: Contest has ended.

I was chosen last year as a product tester after applying for the opportunity, at which time I was given a free pair of tester earrings. I was asked only to relay my experience to the artisan via private message in return. All opinions are my own.
