The holidays are the perfect time to give someone dear a sweet treat to enjoy, and Fraser Valley Gourmet’s Almond Butter Crunch was originally created for that very purpose.
One fall in the late eighties, founder Katherine Geiger altered a simple candy recipe she had found, and began to gift her friends and family with almond butter crunch. It wasn’t long before people were clamouring for more of the delicious confection long before Christmastime.
After much insistence from her husband, Kathy was eventually persuaded to book a table at her first craft fair. Her products were well received at the trade shows she attended, and in 2006 she finally allowed herself to believe that she could turn her love of candy making into a business. Now, Fraser Valley Gourmet’s almond butter crunch can be found in retail stores throughout the Lower Mainland and in a few other locations across BC and Alberta.
Kathy firmly believes that if you’re going to indulge in a sweet treat it should be flavourful, and made without unnecessary additives. To this day, her products are still handmade in small batches without any artificial flavours, colors, preservatives, or stabilizers.
