I had the pleasure of attending the first annual Social Media Mastery Conference in 2015, and found it so informative that I asked Michelle to attend with me this year. The event was hosted at the Centre for Digital Media, where over 300 local entrepreneurs came together to learn and connect – about 100 more community members than there were at last year’s conference!
I was excited to listen to some of my favourite speakers from past YVR Conferences cover different topics, such as Social Media Management Expert Katt Stearns and Monetization Expert (and Lifestyle Mentor) Dai Manuel. Amidst the returning speakers there was also a wide range of experts new to the SMM speaker lineup. I was particularly excited to hear the Corporate Panelists/communication managers for some of the local brands that I follow on social media, shop from, and am inspired by!
In typical YVR Conference style, the day was broken up into periods of listening, mingling, and entertainment; keeping the energy in the room high, and making for a smooth flow. The schedule provided the opportunity to soak up information without feeling overwhelmed, chat briefly with other attendees, and browse the vendor area.
Ricky Shetty has hosted a variety of conferences under the YVR Conferences banner, and I’m happy to have attended several now. Aside from learning some great (and often super simple to implement) tips for improving my influence on social media, I’ve also had the opportunity to connect with a variety of entrepreneurs from Vancouver and surrounding areas.
After each conference Ricky and his team take feedback from attendees to make subsequent events even better, and I can’t wait to find out what they have in store for us at Social Media Mastery 2017! Next year’s event is expected to draw a crowd of 500 plus attendees, and has been scheduled for spring 2017 at Canada Place. If you’d like to learn more as the information becomes available, you can sign up here for updates.
Hope to see you there!
