Today we had the pleasure to bring our family to Timberline Country Christmas at Timberline Ranch in Maple Ridge, BC. When we pulled onto this 73 acre horse ranch you could just feel the down home country feel and see that lots of blood sweat and tears had gone into preparing this event. After we checked in for registration at the Town Hall it was right to the Bakery to decorate some festive Christmas Cookies. These cookies did not last too long as my boys could not wait to gobble them up.
We then went across the way to the Lodge where SnowVille was set up in the downstairs. You come down the stairs and the first thing that caught my boys eyes was a room that was set up as a Winter wonderland snowball toss! This room was lots of fun for children and for those just young at heart.
After the snowball toss we moved onto the Workshop where we got to make some new Christmas Tree ornaments. This was a fun and simple activity for the whole family as well as a lovely keepsake for our day on the Ranch.
From there we moved onto the Christmas Origins section which had a fun multiple choice Christmas Quiz. Do you know what the first Christmas trees were decorated with? I can now say that I do!
From here we moved onto the Storyland which runs at 10, 30 and 50 minutes past the hour.
There was also a fun dress up photo booth where you and your family can dress up and have one of the friendly staff take your picture.
We then headed outside to get on the Wagon Ride over to the Barn, the Wagon Ride runs every 20 minutes and in our families true fashion we missed the Wagon by just moments.
But fear not parents, there is a nice little playground right at the Wagon pick up station which my boys gladly played on for the 20 minutes we had to wait for the next Wagon.
Over in the Barn there was a little Petting Zoo with many different animals for kids to meet and pet. They had the game of horseshoe set up for kids to play while you are waiting for the wagon to come back or if you are waiting in line for your pony ride.
If you are looking for a fun and relaxing holiday activity that is away from the busy city then this is the place for you. This is the first year that Timberline Ranch has put on this event and I sincerely hope there are many more years to come.
There is also a Cafe that offers a number a different foods items that you can buy and some tables so you can go in and have a bite to eat and warm up before you head home. Check out the menu here.
