Last week my son and I were lucky to attend an event with the YVR Bloggers at Tixe, Vancouver’s newest and largest Escape Game – located in Richmond, BC.
What is an Escape Game?
An escape game is when you are locked into a room with a group of people and are given a story, a few clues, one hour and two hints. You need to work together as a team and figure out how to escape from the room before your hour has expired.
TIXE
We had never been to an Escape Game before, so we were unsure what to expect. Here are some of the things that we enjoyed about our TIXE experience.
The Environment:
The first thing that you see when you walk into Tixe (besides the bright red door) is the visually intriguing lobby with many different pieces to catch your eye. Our favourite was the piece on the ceiling, and my son spent quite some time trying to figure out the pattern of the umbrellas in the sky. While you are waiting for your challenge to begin you can sit with your friends and chat, play board games or play darts.
The Lounge:
They have built a very comfortable area for their guests to come and relax and reconnect with their peers before they go into the challenge and a great place to sit and debrief. They also have a small snack bar that you can enjoy assorted snacks or a scoop of gelato.
The Rooms:
Tixe has 4 different Escape Rooms with over 9000 square feet of space to explore. We got to experience 2 different rooms, Exile District and Time Shrine. These rooms were so much fun and extremely challenging. We had a group of 10 people and we did not escape. This really is an amazing team building challenge! The time just flies by and before you know it the hour is up.
If you are looking for an original team building activity for your employees, a place to have a birthday party, or just to unplug and reconnect with your friends/family this is the place to be. I know that we will be back to try to figure our way out of those rooms!
