From the minute you drive up to Timberline Ranch it’s like stepping back in time to the Wild West.
You are greeted by a ranch hand who leads you inside to the registration barn. While you wait to start your Christmas adventure, tickets are handed out so that you can pick your favourite tree, each one decorated by a local business.
Families are then taken to the baking room, where everyone gets a chance to decorate a gingerbread cookie while they wait for the tractor to take them to a barn on the other side of the farm. In the barn, there is a maze made from hay bails where kids can explore, searching for three items, while also trying to find the exit. My kids had so much fun searching for a snowman, Christmas tree, and star.
After the maze, the kids went on a fun pony ride around the barn. There was also a small petting zoo set up with goats, sheep, a donkey, and a llama. After you’re finished visiting with the animals, you are taken back to where you started, by the tractor.
Once you step inside the other barn, you can fill your belly with hot dogs or homemade chilli.
After we were all filled up, we headed downstairs where the kids threw pretend snowballs at targets, made a reindeer Christmas tree ornament, played dress up in the photo booth, and had story time. All in all, this was a fun experience during the holiday season. It was a well thought-out and organized event for the whole family.
