About The Magic of Friendship
Written by: Subhash Kommuru & Sujata Kommuru | Length: 42 pages | Recommended for: children ages 3 to 8 years old
Description: This is a story about change — a transformation that comes with the magic of friendship. A flock of migrating geese stumble upon Tadoba. It is the land of a fierce tiger named Babbar who does not allow anyone in his area. Will Babbar show any mercy? Will the geese make it to safety?
Babbar is a tiger who scares everyone. He tolerates no one on his land, but he is lonely. When he sees a donkey named Hasmukh being funny, he realizes that laughter is what is missing in his life. When he asks the donkey to teach him how to be funny, he learns that Hasmukh envies his ability to scare others. The two spend months trying to teach each other how to be like themselves, but no matter how hard they try, they cannot change their nature. While they cannot change their nature of their being, they find joy in their friendship.
This is the second book that I have read by Subhash and Sujata Kommuru, and while I thought the hand drawn and colored pictures from the book A Mother’s Love Can Conquer All Fear were okay, I really like the style of the images in The Magic of Friendship. They add even more humour to this funny tale of an unlikely friendship.
